While painting this beautiful flower I thought of Gauguin while in the tropics. Perhaps it is because it is winter and I miss the warmth of the sun.

Glorious Groundcover
This was painted for the DPW challenge. We were limited to the colors we were to use, we were asked to paint from nature not a photo and we were given an hour. So this is what I came up with. Definitely better than an old painting of mine that I painted over. Still if I had more time...

Extra, Extra Lemons Please
I painted this watercolor for the Paint and Draw Together Challenge. The title comes from my husband who always makes this request when we go out to eat. He loves lemons with his ice tea and one wedge just isn't going to do it, especially with refills!

Flower Craze
Okay so I was doing this painting and it felt very blah at first so I had a moment of temporary insanity and went slap happy with the brush. I had just got done watching 3 episodes back to back of American Idol ,since I got behind watching the Olympics and with the first version of this painting Simon was saying this,"This painting is so dull ,spice it up next time. " So I did, now I don't know if he'll like it or tell me it looks like his Grandmother's wallpaper. I kinda like it myself. 8" x 10" $100

Rose's Friend, the Bottle
Well, this has been cropped a ton. The original photo by Leslie Hawes was very beautiful but my shadow turned out murky and the bottle looked awfully lonely without his shadow so I gave him a new friend from my garden instead. This is for the Monthly Sketch Project Blog. Check it out and join us.

Spring has Sprung
This is my post for the April Virtual Sketch Date. I did the back ground first around the blocked in areas for the flowers.
It is a watercolor on hot pressed paper. Thank you to Jeanette Jobson for providing the reference photo of a rhododendron bud from her garden.
